With the fact that nothing further has been proven to the general public since the October 1967 Patterson-Gimlin film, the people I talk with outside of the BF investigation community generally sneer or giggle when either Sasquatch or Bigfoot are mentioned. The appearance of costumed creatures in Madison Avenue advertizing-- most recently to sell jerky for Jack Links-- does not help our cause. Both the name Sasquatch and Bigfoot have become tainted by the stream of pranks and hoaxes posted on the Internet.
As a matter of personal experience, I find that I get a better response from folks when I initiate the conversation using terms such as "BF creatures" or "wood boogers" or "swamp apes." They usually make the association with Sasquatch or Bigfoot themselves-- but the discussion has begun on a more serious tone and they seem open to the possibility that such creatures exist. _________________ What we learn about the behaviors, range & ecological niche of these animals will come from the observations of a few fortunate and attentive people. I say call it Sasquatch until it's determined what exactly they are.
P.S. Does anyone have the story about the Bigfoot that was shot back in 1941 by a 17 year old man? I received it from someone/somewhere and can't find it now.
Thanks. _________________ LOOK UP!!! |

Artist rendition based on Peter's description of the BF creature he shot
Go to http://www.bfro.net/GDB/show_report.asp?id=9552 for the complete story from 1941. Peter, 17-years old at the time, was hunting moose out of season in Manitoba, Canada as food for his family when he shot a creature with the above description.
