I'm starting this poll to see how everyone thinks of this subject. Myself I say yes only because of a few experiences I have had that I can not explain otherwise.

I voted yes they are real, but that doesn't mean I accept the same definition that ghosts are the lost or tortured souls of "dead people" as believed by many folks.

During the late 1960s, my dad's only brother was going through a difficult time in his life following a divorce with his first wife. He was living alone again and struggling with many issues. It was during this time of life that he became convinced he had picked up a roommate-- what he said was the ghost of a recently passed uncle. He said he often saw the uncle sitting in darkened rooms and reflected in mirrors. After his re-marriage, strange things continued to occur around his home. His first daughter by his second wife had an "imaginary" friend she played with out in the yard and talked with freely. One night they heard a commotion in the basement and when they went downstairs found the lid from a gallon-size can of paint laying on the shelf while the paint can itself was upside down and oozing a big puddle on the floor. Such noises and odd things were so commonplace that he felt it was necessary to be frank and open about them with family members when we went to his home in case something would happen during a visit.

I have no reason to doubt these reports as they were confirmed by other family members living in the house and my grandparents who more frequently visited his home. Thankfully nothing happened the few times my family went to his home for holidays and other events-- but as Christians my folks prayed before, during and after our visits.

I came to realize that such experiences being attributed to or explained as "ghosts" were in fact the activity of very real supernatural beings. "Ghosts" per se are not what folks think they are-- but I would not discount or discredit somebody who reports such activites or observations.
